DR. JOSEPH BARCIE - BIOGRAPHY

Joseph S. Barcie, M.D., MBA
During the last five years Dr. Barcie served as Corporate Senior Vice President of International Operations for CHRISTUS Health in Dallas Texas.  In this role, Dr. Barcie’s responsibilities included leading the system’s exploration for international deal flow and oversight of the M&A life cycle including due diligence and post-merger integration in Latin America. Dr. Barcie’s responsibilities also included management oversight of in-country administrative teams who managed the day-to-day operations for CHRISTUS Health’s markets internationally. As of 2017 this included the second largest health system in Mexico, the most prestigious academic medical health system in Chile and the second largest vertically integrated health system in Colombia. A total of 15 advanced tertiary hospitals, 190 Ambulatory Centers, 5 cancer centers, 3 national reference labs, home health agency and pharmacy services, almost 16,500 employees and over 1,200 employed physicians. The CAGR in net operating income grew to 75% up from 1% in just five years.
Dr. Barcie previously served as Corporate Vice President at Baptist Health South Florida, the largest not-for-profit health care organization in the South Florida, comprised of seven large tertiary hospitals, state of the art cancer center and more than two dozen medical centers and outpatient facilities.  Its International Division is one of the largest hospital-based international programs in America.
He has also served as Corporate President of Centralized Operations for International Hospital Corporation, a Dallas based for-profit company which owned and operated 12 acute care hospitals in Brazil, Mexico and Costa Rica. 
Dr. Barcie is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, has a black belt in Six Sigma, experienced in the Shingo model for operational excellence, recipient of several recognition awards, served on hospital boards and advisory boards including the Board of the Miami-Dade Latin Chamber of Commerce, he is well published and served as adjunct clinical professor at Dartmouth Medical School, guest lecturer at University of Texas, Dallas and Florida International University School of Medicine.
Dr Barcie is a highly sought-after healthcare and business speaker with over a decade of experience speaking in the US, Latin America, Caribbean, China and Malaysia. He is also a frequent academic speaker and guest lecturer at Dartmouth Medical School, Florida International University, Florida Atlantic University, University of Texas, and top Universities in Mexico and Chile.  
He earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Florida Atlantic University, a master’s degree in business administration in healthcare from The Paul Merage School of Business at the University of California, Irvine, and his Doctor of Medicine from the UACJ School of Medicine in Chihuahua, Mexico, followed by Internal Medicine training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.
Although Dr. Barcie is originally from Santiago de Compostela Spain, he lives in Dallas Texas with wife Leslie and son Ethan.
