Born in NEw Zealand, Susan Maxwell Skinner joined her first newspaper at the age of 16. She worked her way to feature writing and eventually covered visits by Britain's Royal family. A plum assignment - attending the Royal wedding in 1981 - changed her career direction. The writer stayed on in London. She was accredited to cover day-to-day royal engagements and later tours by the Prince and Princess of Wales and senior members of their family. Highlights
of these years included seeing Prince William and Prince HArry's debuts and sharing exotic tours with their parents. Diana, Memory of a Rose is her third book on the Princess of Wales. Susan is now married to American bandleader, John Skinner. They live in Sacramento, California, where the author is active on the speaking circuit.
