On A
Wing and a Prayer
Nancy Hasty, an established NYC playwright, has written a one-woman
show for sister Phyllis. “On a Wing and a Prayer”
is a musical tribute to World War II, honoring the stories and
experiences of their parents, relatives, friends and other veterans
who lived through this difficult time.
The show is a blend of humor, nostalgia and patriotism and can
be performed in a theatrical setting with the added benefits of
lighting, sound, dancers and Big Band musicians OR in an intimate
performance with Phyllis and piano. It will delight and entertain
large conventions, business meetings and corporate audiences

and mood of the audience. She moves easily from the classic Patsy
Cline “Crazy” to a rousing rendition of “New
York, New York.” Her scripted shows include personal stories
of growing up in the South.
Whether singing contemporary tunes, performing high energy songs,
belting a swing tune or crooning romantic ballads, Phyllis promises

Reviews For Singer Phyllis Hasty
“In May of 2004, Phyllis Hasty performed her one woman
show, “On A Wing and A Prayer,” a musical tribute
to World War II, at the Texas State Crime Stoppers Convention.
Phyllis captivated the audience for over an hour with her dynamic
show of sentimental music and poignant stories of the men and
women who preserved our legacy of liberty. I highly recommend
Phyllis’ unique blend of song and story accentuated by her
superb musical talent for an enchanting evening of nostalgia and
entertainment .”
Alyson McInturff, Past Pres. Midland Crime Stoppers, Texas
“The songs and stories in Ms. Hasty’s show
brought back all my memories of WWII when I was just a young
pilot…my generation seldom gets to hear that great music
performed live by a lovely young woman. I highly recommend this
show for any and everyone.”
General Heine Adderholdt, Ret. USAF
“…An outdoor sunset performance at the historical
revolutionary park at Mount Independence- the wonderfulness
of Phyllis singing and telling her stories-the music of great
jazz swing and standards remains fresh in my memory. It made
for the perfect summer evening.”
The Calvin J. Yapp , Concord Mass.
“Marlene Dietrich was alive and singing channeled
through Phyllis Hasty’s rendition of Lili Marlene in her
one woman show, “On A Wing and a Prayer…”
M. Kennedy, Florida
“Having lived abroad in Asia and Europe, as the wife
of an AF Colonel, I’ve seen many shows of top entertainers.
Phyllis Hasty stands head and shoulders above most and is as
good as the best!!! She has the beautiful voice and range of
emotion that embraces the wide variety of music in her show.
Her charismatic stage presence and dynamic delivery make her
speaking and singing unforgettable.”
Kay Hamilton, KLYNN Industry, Florida
Two years ago, on November 11, Phyllis Hasty performed
her fabulous one-woman show at the beautiful Mellow Theater
in Scranton, Pa. The performance, "On a Wing and a Prayer"
was well-received by audiences at two sold-out shows. Set during
the World War II era, the performance offered at times both
a nostalgic and rousing trip down memory lane, with a musical
backdrop that showcased Ms. Hasty's formidable vocal talents.
Written and directed by her sister, Nancy, this original, musical
"look back" was a delight for the many veterans who
were in attendance. Without reservation, I would whole-heartedly
recommend "On a Wing and a Prayer" to any venue fortunate
to secure Ms. Hasty's artistic talents.
