Professional Background:
Beverly is widely recognized as an expert in the field of communication
and a riveting speaker. Her favorite subjects are positive attitude,
recovering from failure, and treating people the way they want to
be treated. She is the CEO of TLC, Talk Listen Communicate, LLC, which
was awarded Small Business of the Year 2000 by the Chattanooga Chamber
of Commerce. As a Speech Pathologist with an interest in all aspects
of communication, Beverly motivates audiences to become more effective
communicators. She has received national coverage in The Wall Street
Journal, Success magazine, Glamour, Time and ABC World News Tonight
for her work. She is the author of Talk Is NOT Cheap: Saving the High
Cost of Misunderstanding at Work and Home (Bard Press, 1999), and
co-author of Power Learning: Communication (Insight Publishing, 2003)
and Success Is A Decision of the Mind (Insight Publishing, 2003).
Beverly appeared regularly on WTVC-TV9 Health Digest (an ABC affiliate
station) presenting communication segments on the evening news, 1984-1988.
In November 1987, she received a national Public Information Exchange
Award from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association for her
work with television. Beverly has given communication tips on WDEF
radio (a CBS affiliate) and has authored numerous magazine articles.
She participated in a White House Conference and Reception on brain
development and learning with the President and Mrs. Clinton in 1997.
From 1996-1999, Beverly served on the Tennessee Governor's Task Force
for Women Businesses. She was chosen as the 1998 recipient of the
Jane Cozby Henderson Woman of Achievement award. She traveled with
the U.S. Department of Commerce to South Africa to help establish
trade between the two nations. She is currently the National President-elect
for the National Association of Women Business Owners.
Educational Background:
Beverly received an MA with high honors in Speech Pathology and a
BS in Speech and Hearing Science from the University of Tennessee.
Before receiving the award of "An Outstanding Clinician"
in 1976, Beverly was very active in forensic tournaments at Wright
State University in Dayton, Ohio, and won numerous speech contests
including persuasive, humorous, broadcast, and impromptu categories.
She is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association,
National Institute of Myo-Functional Therapy, a member of National
Speakers Association, and is a licensed Speech Pathologist in Tennessee
and Georgia.
Personal Background:
Beverly is married to Ken Ebel and together they have two sons, Tye
and Logan. Originally from Ohio, Beverly has lived in Chattanooga
since 1978. For fun, Beverly is a fan of college football and enjoys
daily walks, floral gardening and playing her harp.
